About Steven Wilson

Steven M. Wilson is a native of Ohio who has spent the last quarter of a century as a public historian.  He earned a master of arts in historic preservation from the University of Tennessee and is a graduate of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation’s Seminar for Historic Administration as well as the Winedale Museum Seminar through the University of Texas.

He has been the director of the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum, director of the National Firearms Museum, and executive director of the Outagamie County Historical Society in Wisconsin.  He is currently the curator and assistant director at the Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum of Lincoln Memorial University, where he also teaches history.  He oversees the museum’s collection of Lincoln and Civil War material—one of the largest of its kind in the world—and supervises the exhibits.
